Why Paleo?

CrossFit is hard. Maintaining good nutrition to help recover more quickly? Even harder.

Luckily, the Kettlebell Kitchen is here to help! We’re run by CrossFitters, Paleo-eaters, full-time-job havers – so we understand.

Our meals are 100% Paleo, and we also offer multiple Zone meals for athletes looking for specific macronutrient ratios. You take care of the heavy lifting in the gym, and we’ll take care of the heavy lifting for your nutrition! Coming soon to a box near you…

We believe our Paleo meals provide optimal nutrition without the inflammatory effects of non-Paleo foods like grains, soy and dairy.

We only use fresh, local ingredients and the highest quality proteins and vegetables when crafting our meals.

And because we’re dedicated to providing you with the cleanest fuel possible, they will always be free of artificial ingredients, preservatives and GMOs, and chock full of the good stuff: vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids.

Proper nutrition can make or break athletic performance; for those who want to take this to the next level, we offer meals comprised of exact Zone proportions: 30% fat, 30% protein and 40% carbohydrate.

Thought to optimize human performance, these macronutrient ratios “amplify and accelerate the benefits of the CrossFit regimen,” according to Greg Glassman, CrossFit’s founder.

If you’ve been looking to give your training the extra edge, this is it.

What is Paleo?

The “Paleolithic Diet” is founded on the idea that our ancestors evolved under certain environmental conditions and stressors; consequently, our bodies have developed to run on certain fuels.

Over the last 10,000 or so years, the advent of grain-based and sugar-based foods has fundamentally changed the modern diet and common fuel sources.

The problem is, the human body, as a system, had been thriving without these foods for millions of years and it hasn’t had time in the last 10,000 years – a drop in the bucket, evolutionarily speaking – to adapt to modern foods.

The Paleo Diet is a way of eating that pays homage to the types of foods our ancestors ate: the types of food we were meant to eat.

That doesn’t mean we want you to eat Mastodon steak and shrubs!

Rather, eating “paleo” means eating fresh, nutrient-rich, unprocessed, natural foods like meat and fish, vegetables, fruit and nuts.

Interestingly, Greg Glassman, the founder of CrossFit, recommends a similar philosophy:

"In plain language, base your diet on garden vegetables, especially greens, lean meats, nuts and seeds, little starch, and no sugar. That's about as simple as we can get. Many have observed that keeping your grocery cart to the perimeter of the grocery store while avoiding the aisles is a great way to protect your health. Food is perishable. The stuff with long shelf life is all suspect."

We, at Kettlebell Kitchen, believe that this type of eating will nourish bodies both in motion and at rest – fresh, natural foods help us perform and feel our best.
